Agents raid home, office of St. Bernard president

CHALMETTE, LA (WVUE) - The state attorney general's office conducted raids Friday on the office and home of St. Bernard Parish President Dave Peralta.

More than a half dozen agents with the state attorney general's office arrived at Peralta's Meraux home early in the morning. They seized computers and took bags as Peralta and several neighborhood residents looked on.

They then went to Peralta's office in Chalmette and seized

bags of material and several computers.

It's unclear how the material could figure into upcoming civil and criminal trials. Peralta has been indicted for the alleged sexual battery of his then-wife and is under a court order not to talk with her.

A source said investigators may have been looking for evidence that he violated that order. He denies doing so.

Peralta is refusing to step down from office. His trial is set for later this year.
