A party celebrating a woman's acceptance into college ended in violence when a 26-year-old man was shot multiple times outside the Slidell home.
Police responded to reports of gunfire at the corner of Daney and Tenth Street in Slidell on July 20. When they arrived on scene they found a 26-year-old man lying in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. Police say the victim was rushed to University Hospital in New Orleans and is still in listed critical condition almost a week later.
According to police, a verbal altercation between the victim and another party-goer led to the shooting. Police say the shooter hid in a nearby wooded area and ambushed the victim. "The victim never saw it coming," Slidell Police Chief Randy Smith said. "We are praying for him and hoping he pulls through."
Police say significant developments have been made since the start of the investigation, but they are still asking anyone with information to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 504-822-1111.
