Metairie family carjacked at gunpoint

A woman and her daughter were carjacked by two armed men while driving on Bonnabel Boulevard.

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office reports that on July 26, around 9:41 p.m. a 39-year-old woman and her 14-year-old daughter were driving south in the 600 block of Bonnabel Blvd. when two men jumped in front of their car asking for help.

Police say the victim pulled over behind a green Ford Explorer with two black men inside. One of the men who asked her to stop quickly approached the driver's side with a semi-automatic handgun and ordered the woman and her daughter to get out of their car. The victims described him as a black male with tattoos wearing a Saints shirt. Another suspect approached the passenger-side door with a semi-automatic rifle. The victims described him as a black male with short dreads.

Once they were out, police say the gunmen forced them onto the ground and all four men entered their vehicle and took off toward I-10, leaving the Ford Explorer behind, which police are now processing for evidence. It was not reported stolen.

The victim's car is described as a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, black with Louisiana licence plate WTM308.
