Wild World of Weather: Waterspouts and landslides

This waterspout video was sent from a viewer, Chris, who captured the funnel cloud forming over Hackberry Bay in Lafourche Parish last Tuesday.

Chris said there was lightning and heavy downpours while the waterspout lasted for nearly five minutes.

A severe storm downed numerous trees in Shreveport Wednesday. Neighbors say a woman got hit by a large limb that broke off a tree during the storms.

The same system dumped heavy rains over Mississippi, including heavy flooding in Southhaven.

Heavy rain can be good for your yard, especially during the summer, but it seems a bit excessive. One homeowner's sod was floating after Mount Hope in northern Alabama got three inches of rain last Friday. The grass looked more like a giant waterbed.

A camera captured video of a tree falling on a moving a car in Taiwan Wednesday as typhoon Matmo made landfall in the island nation.

Heavy winds and rains from the typhoon made getting around difficult, and caused extensive damage.

Heavy rains are fueling fears of landslides across the country.

A dashboard camera shows the intense rain from a pop-up storm in New Orleans when suddenly lightning strikes the top of a telephone pole very close to the roadway.

That's a look at this week's wild world of weather.
