BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Two days after a Baton Rouge man was arrested and accused of raping a woman he met on a social media app called Tinder, his bond was raised from $35,000 to $75,000.

On Saturday, July 26, a woman called police to report that she had been raped by a man named Jake that she met on Tinder. The woman told police after they met on the social media app, they agreed to meet in person at her apartment.

When 22-year-old Jacob Hirsch Witz arrived, they sat on the couch and talked a while and moved to the bedroom to talk. The woman's statement to police says Witz became suddenly aggressive and pulled her shorts off. She goes on to say that he slapped her across the face, ripped off her shirt and bra and raped her as she begged him to stop.

The police report says Witz then found the woman's phone and forced her to unlock it so he could delete all text messages between them. He then forced her to take a bath while he watched. The woman told police Witz said "Pretend this did not happen. Don't tell anybody. I did not rape you, I got to get out of here."

The woman told police "Jake" is a massage therapist and weight trainer who drives a silver Camero.

Police found Witz and before they could read him his Miranda Rights, he told them he was not answering any questions and wanted an attorney.

Kathryn Saichuk with LSU's Health Promotions, says every year she speaks to incoming students and warns them to be careful when meeting anyone new. Saichuk also works with Sexual Assault Services and teaches self-defense."You just don't know who's on the other end of that conversation," she said. "Social media sites like Tinder and others allow them to make a connection to someone they don't know."Saichuk says times have changed. People have become more familiar with each other by phone. In some cases, she says, people should not be so trusting. She says it's important to remember three things:

-If you want to get to know someone, do it face-to-face in public, maybe with a group.

-Beware of the other person's behavior, like if they try to isolate you or pay you too much attention.

-Don't give out your personal information.

Saichuk says the university and the LSU Police are developing an app for the students, faculty and staff called LSU Shield.

The app will not only allow them to report crimes, but also will let students to notify friends where they will be. The app will also alert those friends if the person doesn't get to where they were supposed to be.

Witz was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of forcible rape. There is no word on why his bond was raised.

The Saints 20-17 defeat at the hands of the Falcons no doubt hurt. But in terms of the playoffs, the Saints are still in good shape. The Jets (5-8) come in town this week with a backup quarterback under center, Bryce Petty. The inexperience will show with a relentless Saints defense ready to bear down. After the Jets, the Saints host Atlanta, then hit the road for Tampa. All three very winnable contest. "I live by the motto, you only worry about the things you can control. So ...
