Police: Woman sets fire to underage ex-girlfriend's house

A 31-year-old woman allegedly set fire to the home of her ex-girlfriend after the teenager ended the relationship.

Police arrested Adrianne Legarde for aggravated arson and carnal knowledge of a juvenile after investigating a fire in the 300 block of Greenville Street on July 29 Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported.

Police arrived to the scene of a fire at the Greenville Street residence after one of its five inhabitants used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames. According to police, deputies noticed the smell of gasoline and, after conferring with a fire chief on scene as well as the State Fire Marshal's Office, began to investigate the possibility of arson.

According to police, family members at the house said that one of the residents recently broke up with Legarde. Police say when the relationship began Legarde was 29 and her partner was a 15-year-old girl. The woman and teenage girl engaged in consensual sexual relations according to police.

Police say Legarde made several threats to her ex-girlfriend and her family after the break up, including threatening to burn down their home. Additional evidence at the scene also linked Legarde to the arson.

Police questioned Legarde, who admitted to having sexual relations with a minor. She was arrested for Aggravated Arson of an Inhabited Dwelling and Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. She is being held on a $75,000 bond.
