Three have been arrested after police spotted them fleeing the scene and discarding handguns.
Fifth District units on patrol near St. Roch Park arrested three people after they saw them discard handguns and flee in different directions, police said.
Earnest Reed was caught in the 1800 block of Music Street with a Glock 17 semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine and flashlight attachment, which was later found to have been stolen in Orleans Parish in 2010.
Dreshawn Fields and a juvenile were also caught in the 2000 block of St. Roch.
Police say they had discarded a 9 mm Jiminez Arms handgun, which was reportedly stolen in June 2014, and a 22 caliber Browning Arms handgun in a garbage can in the park.
The New Orleans Police Department's Crime Lab confiscated all three weapons and are processing the for DNA.
