Son of second Ebola patient arriving in Atlanta Tuesday said his mother knew the risks

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA/AP) -

The son of the second Ebola patient scheduled to arrive in Metro Atlanta Tuesday said his mother believed her work environment in Liberia was safe.

"She never told me she was concerned. She had told me even a couple of weeks before she was infected that one of the physicians there that was working with them told (her) that the decontamination and procedures at that particular hospital where they were at were really some of the best she had ever seen," said Jeremy Writebol, Nancy Writebol's son.

Missionary Nancy Writebol will be treated at Emory University Hospital for the Ebola virus. Dr. Kent Brantly arrived in Metro Atlanta Saturday and is being treated for the same virus which he contracted in Liberia.

Jeremy Writebol said his parents knew the risks involved but have a passion for serving the poor and sick.

Brantly and Writebol will be treated in an isolation unit. Doctors said the isolation can lead to a post-traumatic stress disorder.

Their families will be able to visit them but will not be allowed to make physical contact.
