Three Lafourche Parish boys were honored again on Tuesday for saving an elderly woman trapped in a car last month.
The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials awarded Avery Landry, 13, Wayne Galloway, 12, and Connor Richard, 13, with the 911 Heroes Award at their annual conference in New Orleans.
The award is part of APCO International's 911 For Kids organization. Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office Communications Deputy Lashana Cooks was also recognized for her help.
Elizabeth Harris was parked outside of her house when her car locks stopped working and trapped her inside. She put a sign in the window asking for help and tried to break out of the vehicle.
The three kids were riding their bikes by Harris' house when they heard her tapping on the window. They sprang into action. Galloway ran to get his mother, Landry called police and Richard stayed with Harris.
She was in the hot car for almost two hours. By the time a deputy broke the window and paramedics pulled her out, her body temperature was at 104 degrees.
The kids have been honored several times for their quick thinking and heroics.
