A man was arrested Wednesday after state troopers saw him point a gun at another man and fire a round, according to State Police spokeswoman Melissa Matey.
The incident happened at 1 a.m. under the overpass at Calliope and Simon Bolivar. Cleveland Bell, 35, was booked with attempted murder, armed robbery and an active warrant for home invasion.
According to Matey, troopers patrolling in the Sixth District saw two men involved in an argument under the overpass. Troopers said Bell pulled out a pistol and fired at him. When police identified themselves to him, Bell fled into a nearby neighborhood.
Troopers and NOPD officer set up a perimeter and searched with a K-9 unit. They eventually found Bell hiding under a house. A gun and crack cocaine was found in a vacant lot next to the house.
Bell was jailed at Orleans Parish Prison.
