Police release sketch of trombone robbery suspect

Police released a sketch Wednesday of a man they said robbed a teen of his band instrument and fired shots at him July 31 in Algiers.

The robbery happened at about 7 p.m. as the 14-year-old victim was walking in the 4900 block of Berkley Drive carrying his trombone. Police said the suspect exited the rear passenger side of a black, newer-model SUV, possibly a Chevrolet with post-factory silver rims. He ran up to the victim and grabbed him by his clothes, but the teen managed to escape and run. As he did, the suspect fired shots and the victim dropped his trombone and ran. The suspect picked up the instrument and fled down Berkley toward Kabel Drive in the SUV.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 25 years old, about 5'08" and 250 pounds with an overweight build and a brown complexion. He had three-quarter-length tattoo sleeves on both arms.
