DULAC, LA (WVUE) -

The body of a four-year-old boy who has been missing since Friday morning was discovered in a waterway, according to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office received a call just after noon from residents in the 100 block of Evest St. off Hwy. 57 in Dulac in reference to a missing child.

The parents told officers the mother left for work Friday morning, leaving Ja-son Ross with his father. When the mother returned aroudn noon, she discovered the door was open and the father was asleep, according to Sheriff Jerry Larpenter.

First responders, the parents, family members and neighbors began to search the area for the little boy. Around 1:45 p.m., TPSO water patrol agents and members of the fire department discovered the child's body in Grand Caillou Bayou directly across from the family's residence.

Ross was pronounced dead on the scene. Investigators believe the cause of death was accidental drowning. They do not suspect foul play at this time.

An autopsy is scheduled Friday evening with the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office.

At some point we know that finding the successor to Drew Brees will be the New Orleans Saints’ top priority. What we don’t know is when that time will be. Personally, I don’t think it’s 2017. I’m not particularly enamored with anyone in the draft class and the need at quarterback hasn’t become an absolute must just yet. Next year’s crop could be better and there are some notable signal callers (Jimmy Garropolo, A.J. McCarron) scheduled to hit...more>>
