Detectives are investigating a double homicide that occurred on the interstate early this morning.
Police were called to the eastbound side of I-10, just after the Crowder Boulevard exit, on a report of shots fired around 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 9, according to a press release from The City of New Orleans.
Police say when officers arrived they found two unresponsive black men inside a gold Toyota parked in the far left emergency lane. Both had been shot multiple times and were pronounced dead on the scene. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of their families.
Investigators are currently gathering evidence to determine a suspect and motive, according to police.
The interstate has since been reopened for vehicular travel.
