Police: Officer injured in fight with suspect

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police say an officer received a minor injury to his right hand in a fight with a suspect on the city's west bank.

NOLA.com ' The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1A7IaME ) that it happened about 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Mimosa Court in the Tall Timbers neighborhood of Algiers.

A preliminary report says the officer heard gunfire, got into the fight, and was taken to a hospital by another officer.

Police did not say whether the officer was shot.
