Police: Woman posing as church worker stole elderly victim's wallet

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

The Houma Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who allegedly entered the home of an elderly victim and stole from her.

The theft happened in the 1100 block of Suthon Avenue. Police said the woman told the victim she was a representative from a local Catholic church who had been assigned to clean the victim's residence. The suspect entered the home and began searching through the victim's purse.

The suspect stole the victim's wallet and made credit card purchases totaling almost $1500 at a local clothing store.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Houma Police Department or the Bayou Region Crime Stoppers. The suspect faces charges of exploitation of the infirm and unauthorized use of an access card.
