SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - St. Tammany Parish firefighters were able to put out a residential fire in less than 15 minutes, but not before the home was heavily damaged by fire, heat and smoke.

The fire started Monday night around 11 p.m. in the 100 block of West Pinewood Dr. in Slidell.

Firefighters arrived on scene five minutes after receiving the initial call. Flames and smoke were pouring out of the 2,500 square foot home.

One of the residents of the home woke up when they smelled smoke coming from the front playroom. Everyone was able to get out safely, according to STPFD spokesperson Chad Duffaut.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
