WEST MONROE, LA (WVUE) - Hundreds of celebrities, sports stars and everyday Joes across the country are getting soaked in the name of a good cause.
The Ice Bucket Challenge is aimed at helping strike out ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. People who participate are getting doused with (mostly) ice water and then challenge other to do the same to raise awareness for the disease.
Reality television star Willie Robertson of 'Duck Dynasty' and his trademark beard are the latest to take the challenge. Friends dumped water on him from the roof of his West Monroe, LA business, Duck Commander. He challenged his son, John Luke, professional baseball player Adam LaRoche and NFL player Matt Light to go under the bucket.
Celebrities and public figures, like Drew Brees and Sean Payton, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, and Justin Timberlake have also joined in, raising money for charities like Team Gleason.
