A judge has set bond for the man who was shot earlier this week by a New Orleans police officer during a traffic stop.
Armond Bennett, 26, was released from the hospital and booked with simple criminal damage to property, illegal carrying of a weapon, and possession of marijuana.
Friday, a judge set Bennett's bond at $12,000.
The NOPD said Officer Lisa Lewis shot Bennett in the forehead after getting into a fight with him during a traffic stop on Mimosa Court in Algiers early Monday morning. The NOPD said Lewis turned off her body camera right before the incident.
Lewis fired two shots at Bennett, but because there is no body camera video, it is not clear what was happening when those shots were fired.
Bennett's attorney, Nandi Campbell said her client never resisted and she claimed the officer fired a second shot at Bennett as he ran away.
The officer's attorney told FOX 8 Lewis turned her body camera off because her shift was about to end and she was on her way back to the 4th district police station when she made the traffic stop.
