Police: Slidell mom busted for DWI with toddler triplets in tow

SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - A Slidell woman was arrested Thursday night after police say she was driving under the influence of alcohol and prescription medication with her three children in the car.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says around 8 p.m., a deputy was called to the Willow Wood Subdivision after several residents called to report a white GMC SUV driving recklessly through the neighborhood.

Residents told deputies the driver of the vehicle, identified as Licia Greenleaf, nearly ran over three people that were standing in their own yard, a man walking his dog and several mailboxes as well as narrowly avoiding at least one collision with another vehicle.

A deputy pulled Greenleaf over as she was pulling into the drive-thru at a local fast food restaurant on Gause Boulevard.

The deputy noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Greenleaf, slurred speech, and extremely glossy eyes. She was also unable to stand on her feet without support.

In the vehicle were Greenleaf's triplets under the age of 3 in the back seat. The children were properly restrained in car seats.

Police say Greenleaf admitted to taking prescription medication (Lexapro and Xanax) and drinking wine before leaving her home.

She was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail for Driving While Intoxicated and Careless Operation.

Her children were released into the custody of a friend, and the case was forwarded to the state Department of Children and Family Services
