KENNER, LA (WVUE) - Two men are behind bars after police say they robbed another man inside a Kenner hotel room.
Kenner Police say Monday night a Hispanic male called 911 to report that a suspect wearing a mask and holding a black handgun entered his room and tried to rob him.
The man told officers he was lying in bed with the room door propped open, when a person walked into his room, "yelled," and produced a gun.
The victim, not understanding what the person was actually demanding because he only spoke Spanish, put his hands up. The suspect then fled the hotel and was last seen running on the canal bank towards Williams Boulevard.
A witness told police that one of the suspects, identified as 19-year-old Jeremy Ware, was staying at the Contempra Inn on Williams Boulevard, and the other suspect, Bernard Torres, 27, was staying at the Travel Best Inn.
Upon searching the hotel rooms, detectives located at black handgun and a black and gold mask that the victim identified as the ones utilized in this incident. Ware was the person who was wearing the mask and armed with the handgun.
Torres was arrested because he participated in the incident and obvious planning and distracted the victim in such a way that Ware was able to commit the offense.
The handgun was found to be an air soft gun which was the exact replica of a semi-automatic handgun.
Ware and Torres remain in custody. No bond was set.
