Two people have been shot near S. Rampart St. and Canal St. It happened around 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
One person was shot in the leg. Another person was shot in the head. Both people are expected to survive, according to New Orleans police.
Officers also say two people who were involved in the shooting have been arrested.
Louisiana state troopers announced Thursday they would keep a temporary deployment in New Orleans and the French Quarter.
Mayor Mitch Landrieu asked state police for help after a shooting in June on Bourbon St. that left nine people wounded and one person dead.
The 43rd Annual Southern Decadence celebration is taking place in the French Quarter this weekend. Organizers expect more than 150,000 participants.
