Thousands without power as storms hit SE Louisiana

Entergy maps show thousands without power in Southeast Louisiana, with hundreds in the dark in the Greater New Orleans area.

Entergy's website says that outages started around 11:49 a.m. due to thunderstorms and high winds in the area.

"Entergy personnel are working to restore service as quickly as safely possible," said Entergy on their website.

Entergy estimates that service will be restored in most areas around 7 p.m., but notes that "the estimated time of restoration could change as all damage assessments are completed or if other storm activity results in additional outages."

More outages have been reported in Metairie, Hammond and many other cities in the area. For an updated list of power outages and their estimated service times click here for Entergy's outage map.
