Traffic shift on St. Charles Ave. begins Thursday

Beginning Thursday, a traffic shift will occur on St. Charles Avenue to accommodate construction of a new drainage pipe and water main.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, and its contractors will temporarily shift travel lanes on a section of St. Charles Avenue for work related to the Southeast Louisiana Drainage Project.
Traffic heading west (Uptown bound) on St. Charles Avenue will shift to the eastbound side of St. Charles Avenue between Leontine Street and Octavia Street. There will be two-way traffic on the eastbound side of St. Charles Avenue at this location.
This lane shift will be in effect until December 2014.

Traffic shifts in this area are coordinated with the Jewish Community Center, local schools and adjacent residents.
