Shots were fired at New Orleans Police on Thursday night.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. in the 3400 block of Clara Street near Louisiana Avenue. It is unclear if officers fired any shots. It is also unclear what sparked the shooting.

Heron George, 18, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder of a policeman following the incident. He has also been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.

Shortly after shots were fired, police say a perimeter was set up. A canine unit was able to track the George nearly a half hour after the incident, police say. The suspect was apprehended in the 2800 block of Amelia Street.
