Neighbors say that individuals had just moved out the day before heavy flames consumed a Lower Ninth Ward home.
The fire broke out around 4 a.m. Monday morning near the intersection of St. Maurice and North Robertson. Crew arriving on the scene immediately struck a second alarm due to the heat and size of the fire.
The home is close to two other houses. Both neighboring homes received minor exterior damage. Both neighboring homes were abandoned.
Firefighters say neighbors tell them that individuals were living in the home moved out over the weekend. There was still furniture in the home but no one was injured.
Firefighters are working to determine the cause of the fire.
