The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Department says that an inmate who escaped police custody on Sunday evening is back in custody.

Police say that 26-year-old Jason Dempster was on the run after escaping the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on Sunday evening.

Dempster was serving a 90-day sentence for not paying over $5,000 in child support. Deputies say he was considered a 'low risk' inmate.

He was also being held as a fugitive out of Assumption Parish for a contempt of court charge for not appearing in court for traffic violations, according to police.

Details surrounding Dempster's capture are unknown at this time
