JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Police say that Automated License Plate Recognition has helped officers identify a suspect in a convenience store robbery in the Lakeview area.

The robbery happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday at the Circle K, located at 330 Veterans Boulevard.

Officers say that the suspect requested change for a bill. When the worker opened the register, police say the suspect forcibly rook cash from it.

The suspect fled to a nearby Chevrolet S-10 truck, operated by a second person. Both individuals fled the scene in the truck.

Automated License Plate Recognition research revealed that the vehicle belonged to 20-year-old Wesley Ruffino of St. Bernard. Police say the vehicle in question is a green 1995 Chevrolet S-10 with Louisiana plates X993281. Officers say there is a spare tire in the bed of the truck.

Anyone with information on the vehicle's whereabouts or the individuals involved is asked to contact the Jefferson Parish Robbery Section at (504) 364-5376.
