A hooded gunman fled the scene empty-handed after pointing his handgun at employees of an Algiers pizza joint.

Officers say that the attempted armed robbery happened around 10 p.m. Monday at Domino's Pizza, located in the 4800 block of General Meyer Avenue.

The suspect entered the business and pointed his firearm at employees, police say. He demanded money. Police say one employee fled the scene. A second employee claimed to not have any cash.

At this time, police say the suspect fled the scene on foot down Huntlee Drive.

He has been described as a black male with a medium build, approximately 6-feet tall. Officers say he was last seen wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, dark tennis shoes and a black bandanna. The suspect was armed with a dark finish semi-automatic handgun that was scratched and rusted, police say.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
