New Orleans businessman Rodney Williams was sentenced in federal court Wednesday to one year and one day in prison.
The sentence comes after admitting to paying former Mayor Ray Nagin thousands of dollars for city contracts.
Williams provided key testimony in the federal corruption case of the former mayor.
He pleaded guilty in 2012 to a charge of conspiracy to commit bribery. Williams cried in the courtroom as he said he let his children down and his family and church.
He must report to prison by November 1st. Nagin reported to prison earlier this week to begin serving his 10 year sentence.
