Six people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed an 11-year-old girl last year, according to NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison.

Harrison said the three suspects who were arrested off the street were Chris Arana, 20; Roderick Taylor, 20; and Ronnell Martin, 18. The suspects already jailed who will be re-booked in connection to the case were identified as Terry Green, 20; Jacshan Griffin, 18; and Jermaine Scott, 19. All six suspects are connected to the MMG gang.

Arabian Gayles was rocking her cousin to sleep in their Ogden Street home when someone opened fire early on the morning of Sept. 2, 2013.

Another 11-year-old and a 38-year-old man were wounded in the shooting. Police said at the time that they believed more than one gunman fired on the house.

Harrison said the shooting was the result of one gang trying to rob another during a drug deal.

Thursday's news conference was attended by District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro and members of a multi-agency anti-gang unit.
