NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A teenager is in police custody after being connected to an armed robbery in Algiers.
Officers arrested 17-year-old Ryan Landry, who is suspected of robbing Frisch Brothers Signs on Kabel Drive, according to a release sent out by NOPD.
Police say Landry entered the store around 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 10 armed with a gun and demanded money from the business owner. The owner gave Landry all of his money and police say Landry then took the victim's cell phone and ran.
Police arrested Landry on Sept. 12, shortly after 1 a.m. after police stopped him because he appeared to be in violation of curfew. NOPD says when officers searched Landry they found that he illegally possessed a handgun and arrested him. Police also found the cellphone that was later determined to be the one stolen during the robbery of Frisch Brothers Signs.
NOPD says officers then used the surveillance video of the robbery to determine Landry was the same person who held up the store.
Police booked Landry for Armed Robbery, Armed Robbery with use of a Firearm, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Possession of Stolen Things and Riding on a Sidewalk.
