NOPD officer shot multiple times overnight in Marigny

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - An NOPD officer was shot multiple times while working a paid security detail in the Marigny.

According to NOPD, around 1:40 a.m. on Sept. 14 a Ford SUV with three men inside pulled up in front of a restaurant at the corner of Elysian Fields and St. Claude Avenues. Two men exited the vehicle and one produced a handgun and shot the 44-year-old NOPD officer multiple times for an unknown reason.

The officer managed to return fire, according to police, and might have wounded one of the suspects. The two suspects who approached the officer returned to the vehicle and all three suspects fled the scene.

Police describe the vehicle as a 4-door Ford SUV, possibly an expedition, light in color with the lower portion dark in color.

The officer was shot multiple times and is listed in stable condition.He has been with the NOPD for four years and is currently assigned to the Fifth District.
