A Lakeview hairdresser said she feared for her life when an armed man robbed her and two elderly customers Saturday morning.
JoAnn Christakis told NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune that she left the door unlocked because she was expecting a third customer, but instead was startled by a stranger with a gun.
"It was this gentleman," Christakis said. "He says, 'this is hold up!' He have a gun, he came inside, put the gun in my hair and he said 'I want your money!'"
Christakis said a 91-year-old customer who was under a hairdryer gave up her purse, but the gunman wanted more.
"She was sitting," Christakis said. "He tell her, 'gimme your watch, gimme your watch,' and I was telling her 'give you the watch, give you the watch!' The same time he was pointing the gun on me."
Christakis even offered him the engagement ring given to her by her deceased husband.
"I say, 'here, take it.' But I say I don't think it's any value, but it's value to me. And then he said, 'no,I don't want your ring,'" Christakis said.
The robber took the keys and locked the women inside the salon. Christakis called police and opened the door with a spare key.
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
