Police release sketch of French Quarter robbery suspect

Police have released a sketch of a man suspected of robbing a woman of her purse and pushing her to the ground in the French Quarter.

Officers say that the incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday in the 700 block of Saint Phillip Street.

The 45-year-old victim tells police that the suspect approached her on a 'beach cruiser' style bicycle from behind. The suspect demanded the victim's purse.

The victim states that the suspect snatched the purse and pushed her to the ground. He fled southbound on Saint Phillip Street, turning left onto Royal.

The suspect has been described as a black male between 20-30 years old. The victim says he is approximately five-foot-five with short black hair, weighing about 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white striped shirt, khaki shorts and an unknown colored hat.
