Darren Sharper takes legal action from California jail cell

Former Saints player Darren Sharper takes legal action against the team from his California jail cell.

A circuit court of appeals will hear Sharpers' lawsuit against the team.

According to our partners at NOLA.com/The Time Picayune, a three judge panel is scheduled to begin hearing arguments over workers' compensation.

Sharper says the team owes him more than $95,000 because of a knee injury he claims shortened his career.

A judge previously ruled Sharper waited too long to file a claim.

Sharper won't be at the hearing. He's in jail in Los Angeles on drug and rape charges. He's accused of similar crimes in New Orleans and Las Vegas.

Sharper has pleaded not guilty.
