Police name suspect in Gentilly murder case

Police have identified a Gentilly murder suspect after getting an anonymous tip through Crimestoppers.

New Orleans Police released surveillance photographs of the man on Tuesday. He was identified as 22-year-old Joseph Smooth Jr. on Thursday. He is accused of killing 31-year-old Chad Forest.

Officers said Forest was killed around 8 a.m. in the 2600 block of Dreux Avenue. He was shot several times, according to investigators.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Smooth for second-degree murder.
