LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA (WVUE) - Two additional cases of West Nile Virus have been confirmed in Lafourche Parish.
The Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory has advised of two human cases of West Nile Virus.
Officials say that one case was confirmed in Cut Off near the Cote Blanche Bridge. The individual showed symptoms of West Nile on August 29.
The other case has been confirmed in Thibodaux. Officials say the case was reported in an individual residing near East 7th. The Louisiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory confirmed an onset of symptoms on September 4.
The condition of the diagnosed individuals is unknown at this time.
The announcement comes weeks after a North Larose man was found dead. State officials announced last week that the victim had West Nile Virus antibodies in his system.
Officials say the locations described served as the epicenter from which inspection, sampling and control efforts radiated. Personnel were assigned to inspect the surrounding areas.
