The biggest boy band in the world is coming to New Orleans on Thursday. One Direction is bringing with it screaming fans that SMG officials say will be 50,000 strong.

Crews have worked for days building stages for the concert in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, which SMG manages.

They are not giving anyone a peek. But the football turf, which the Saints play on, is covered so it will not be damaged.

"It's a hard plastic floor cover made for this situation. (It is) heavy duty and it's made to support heavy weight. It protects the turf and the field," said SMG spokesman Ricky Zeller.

Zeller said the floor installation started after the Saints game on Sunday and the synthetic turf was covered in about 12 hours.

Doors open at the Superdome for the One Direction concert at 5 p.m. The concert starts at 7 p.m. SMG officials are asking fans not to arrive too early.
