HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - The FBI is monitoring the Louisiana State Police's investigation of the fatal shooting of a teenager in Houma.
Two Terrebonne Parish deputies were responding to reports of a burglary on Tuesday. State Police said when they got there, they had a run in with a group of teens, and Cameron Tillman, 14, was shot and killed.
Deputies arrested two juveniles and an 18-year-old on the scene. They said a fifth person escaped.
State Police said a weapon was found near Tillman's body, but they would not confirm what type. Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said the weapon in question appeared to be a BB gun.
The deputy who shot the teenager has been placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
The FBI has also offered to assist with the investigation if asked to by state police.
