HAMMOND, LA (WVUE) -

A Florida man was arrested Thursday in Tangipahoa Parish after troopers found a large quantity of drugs in his car, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Alexander Pesante, 41, of Orlando, was stopped in a 2010 Ford Fusion on Interstate 12 near milepost 40 just before 6:30 a.m. for what police said were traffic violations.

During the stop, troopers became suspicious of Pesante's behavior and asked to search his car. They found more than 14 pounds of cocaine and more than a pound of marijuana.

Pesante was arrested and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail without incident.
