HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - A Houma man was arrested Sunday after a police officer found crack cocaine in the man's dentures, according to a Houma Police Department news release.

Cornelius Carvin, 64, of Barataria Avenue, was booked with possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer and obstruction of justice.

The incident happened at about 4:40 p.m., when an officer patrolling in the area of Hobson and High streets saw Carvin walking with what appeared to be a crack pipe sticking out of a bag.

The officer stopped Carvin and seized the bag and the pipe. When he asked the suspect to put his hands on the police car, Carvin allegedly tried to put something in his pants and then put it in his mouth.

The officer said he could see crack cocaine stuck inside Carvin's dentures, and he asked Carvin to spit them out. Carvin complied, and the officer confiscated them as evidence.

Carvin was taken to the Terrebonne Parish Jail, where he awaits trial or bond.
