The NOPD are investigating two carjackings over the weekend

The NOPD are investigating two armed carjackings that occurred over the weekend.

According to NOPD, the first incident occurred late Friday night, October 3, in the 1600 block of North Roman St. The victims were inside a black four door Infiniti 35 with Louisiana license plate YHX117. An armed male approached the driver demanding the vehicle. The suspect then fled in the victim's car. The suspect is described as a black male 6'0" tall, 170 pounds, between 25 to 35-years-old.

The second incident occurred early Saturday morning, October 4, at the intersection of Canal Street and South Jefferson Davis Parkway. The victim was stopped at the red light, in a gold-colored 2003 Range Rover with Louisiana license plate VIX362 when a four door burgundy vehicle with four males, pulled up next to the victim's vehicle. Two of the suspects exited the burgundy car and demanded the victim's car at gun point. They then fled with the victim's car along with the two other suspects in the burgundy vehicle. One suspect is described as a black male, 6'0" tall. The second suspect is described as a black male, 6'0" tall, light brown complexion with thin build and curly short hair.

According to a NOPD spokesperson, the two incidents are not related.

The NOPD are asking anyone with information about these crimes to call Detectives investigating the incident at 658-6010 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 822-1111.
