MARRERO, LA (WVUE) - Police say he was caught in the act with a screwdriver and pry-bar in his hand. A 33-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly breaking through concrete walls at two Marrero drug stores.

Jeffery Stout, 33, was arrested on burglary and attempted burglary charges Sunday.

An attempted burglary was first reported around 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Jefferson Parish deputies received reports of an attempted burglary in the 4600 block of Wichers Avenue in Marrero. The owner of the drug store called police after finding a large hole in the building.

The owner told investigators that nothing was taken due to added security measures inside of the business.

A second burglary was reported a short time later. Officers were called Folse Pharmacy in the 4000 block of 4th Street in Marrero. The owner called police after an alarm service provider contacted the owner.

Officers arriving on the scene found Jeffery Stout, 33, with a screwdriver and pry-bar in hand.

Police say he was caught on camera chipping away at the cinder block wall. Officers state video surveillance from the business shows Stout retrieving tools from the bed of the vehicle and returning to the side of the building where he began chipping away at the cinder block wall.

Stout was booked on one count of simple burglary and one count of attempted simple burglary of a pharmacy. Officers say he admitted to involvement in both incidences.
