HARVEY, LA (WVUE) -

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies arrested a man accused of stealing a golf cart from a country club and driving it recklessly through Harvey while intoxicated, according to a JPSO spokesperson.

Carey Dufrene, 45, of Belle Chase, was stopped near the intersection of Destrehan and Lapalco boulevards on Monday around 6:30 p.m. Officers said they were called to the area after reports of Dufrene driving erratically across the Lapalco Bridge.

Deputies said the golf cart was reported stolen from Timberlane Country Club earlier that same day.

Dufrene was taken to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center where he was booked with reckless operation of a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated and possession of stolen property.
