HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - A woman was found dead under a house in Houma Friday following a fight with her boyfriend, according to police. Autopsy reports now state that the woman died of a blunt force trauma to the head.

The body of Dashanta Brown, 22, was discovered lying under a home in the 300 block of Columbus Street by Houma police early Friday (Oct. 10) morning.

Investigators say the homicide appears to be a case of domestic violence. Police believe Brown was involved in a physical altercation with her boyfriend, 42-year-old Michael Tucker, and died from her injuries.

Officers are still trying to figure out how she ended up a block away from her home. Investigators say they do not know if she ran and hid or if Tucker moved the body.

Brown's sister says she was a very happy and independent person. The victim leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter.

Tucker was arrested at his home. He was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Jail on second-degree murder charges.

Police released an autopsy report on Wednesday. An autopsy was performed in Jefferson Parish and the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head area.

Police state the investigation is still ongoing.
