HARVEY, LA (WVUE) - One child is dead and another is in critical condition after a house fire in Harvey, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
The fire broke out at about 3:15 at 1331 Pailet Avenue.

He found one child outside of a bedroom and a second child in a nearby bedroom and dragged both of them outside.
Both children were taken to West Jefferson General Hospital. Two-year-old Johiah Brackens was transferred to Children's Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. Four-year-old Jonathan Brackens was pronounced dead at about 5:30 p.m..
Homicide Detective Jeffrey Rodrigue spoke with the boys' mother, Darrineka Brackens, but she was unable to provide any information as to how the fire may have started.
