Police: 3 men beat, rob man in French Quarter

A 54-year-old man was forced to the ground in the French Quarter as three men beat him and robbed him of his belongings, police say.

New Orleans police say that new surveillance video catches the three young men in the act. The violent robbery happened just before 10:30 a.m. October 9 in the 800 block of Saint Philip Street.

The victim, 54, was walking when he was approached by the suspects from behind and forced to the ground, officers say. The suspects allegedly began repeatedly punching and kicking the victim while he was on the ground.

Police state that the suspects fled the scene with the victim's iPhone.

All three suspects have been described as black males, approximately 17-21 years old, with short hair.

The suspects were caught on surveillance camera the day of the crime, police state.
