Saints players, Benson-Leblanc bring smiles to hospital patients

The Saints used their off day to spread some good cheer to young fans at Ochsner Hospital.

Team owner and Vice Chairwoman Rita Benson-Leblanc and players Terron Armstead, Shayne Graham and Ryan Griffin were among six Saints players who spent some time with children in the pediatric units and those in the Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center.

Benson-Leblanc and the players say these visits are an important part of their job as Saints and as members of the community.

"It's October, so it's breast cancer awareness, but we try to make visits as often as we can," said Benson Leblanc. "And in season, Tuesdays are the days off and we have some really great guys here sharing their off time with the patients here."

"As many times as I can a year I try to get out and do hospital visits or school visits," said Armstead. "I have a family member that's fighting cancer right now, so this was a good opportunity for me."

The players signed autographs for the kids and took pictures with patients and staff.
