Police have obtained an arrest warrant for one of the suspects in a brutal beating and robbery in the French Quarter on Oct. 12.

Bruce Jones, 23, faces a charge of armed robbery.

Police said the 27-year-old male victim was walking in the 800 block of St. Louis Street at 4:30 a.m. when he was approached by several black males. The suspects threw the victim to the ground and began to punch and kick him repeatedly. One of the suspects produced a pistol and pointed it at the victim, demanding his property.

The suspects took the victim's gold watch valued at over $10,000 and his wallet.

During the course of the investigation, detectives learned that one of the suspects, who was later identified as Jones, approached the victim and returned his wallet. Jones was interviewed at the scene and released due to lack of evidence to linking him to the incident at that time. The victim was also unable to identify Jones as one of the suspects.

Through further investigation, detectives obtained video surveillance where Jones was seen taking part in the incident and going through the victim's pockets. Based on this evidence, detectives obtained an arrest warrant. The three other suspects remain at large.
