One of two suspects accused of murdering and dismembering a Bourbon Street dancer appeared in court Monday.
Terry Speaks, who was brought to Louisiana to face charges in the killing of Jaren Lockhart, was arraigned in Jefferson Parish on Monday.
Through his attorney from the public defenders' office, Speaks entered a plea of not guilty on all charges in connection with the 2012 murder of Jaren Lockhart.
Speaks, along with his former girlfriend Margaret Sanchez, is accused of murdering and dismembering the dancer in June 2012. The victim was last seen leaving the club where she worked with both suspects.
Surveillance cameras show the three leaving together that night.
Investigators believe they then went to a home in Kenner, but Lockhart's whereabouts were a mystery until several days later. Parts of her body washed up on a beach in Hancock County, Mississippi.
Speaks faces second-degree murder and obstruction of justice charges in the case.
Sanchez, who is set to stand trial separately, also entered a not guilty plea during a court appearance last week.
Speaks is scheduled in court again Nov 17 trial is set for January.
